1. What we collect
1.1 Account information
Your email address, username, and the payout details you give us so we can pay you. If you sign in with a wallet, we store the public wallet address.
1.2 Recordings you submit
When you complete a capture task, we receive:
- Video. First-person footage of the task you recorded, including your hands, the objects and tools you handle, and the room or site you are working in.
- Motion data. Accelerometer and gyroscope readings recorded alongside the video.
- Capture metadata. Device model, camera and sensor settings, clip length, timestamps, and the task the clip was recorded against.
- Audio, only where a task asks for it. Tasks that do not require audio are recorded without it.
1.3 Device and usage information
Device model and operating system, app version, crash reports, and basic usage events such as which tasks you opened. We check your device's camera and sensor capabilities to determine whether it can meet a task's requirements.
1.4 Location
We collect location only where a task specifically requires it, and we tell you before you start recording. Earlier versions of capturGO were a location-data product; that continuous background collection has ended.
2. Faces and other people
If an identifiable face appears in a recording, we delete the recording. We do not license it, and you are not penalised for it.
Capture tasks are about hands, tools and objects. They are not about people's faces. Every submission is screened by automated detection and human review before it can be accepted.
- Clips containing an identifiable face are rejected and deleted from our systems, normally within 30 days of review.
- Rejected clips are never included in a dataset and never reach a customer.
- You may be asked to re-record the task. A rejection on these grounds does not count against your contributor reputation.
You must not deliberately record other people. Before you record, make sure no one else is in frame, and do not film in spaces where people have not agreed to be recorded. Recording a person without their knowledge may be unlawful where you live, and it is your responsibility to follow the law in your own jurisdiction.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not run continuous background recording. The camera is active only while you are recording a task, and you start and stop it.
- We do not collect contacts, messages, photo libraries, browsing history, or the contents of other apps.
- We do not perform facial recognition, and we do not build face templates or any other biometric identifier.
- We do not knowingly accept recordings of children.
4. How we use it
- To run the service. Create your account, show you tasks your device can complete, and process submissions.
- To check quality. Automated and human review against the task's published acceptance criteria, including the face check described above.
- To pay you. Calculate what you are owed for accepted clips and make the payment.
- To build datasets. Organise accepted recordings, with labels and metadata, into datasets for customers.
- To improve the product. Diagnose faults, measure acceptance rates, and refine capture guidance.
- To meet legal obligations and to investigate fraud or abuse of the reward system.
6. Legal bases (UK and EEA users)
- Contract. Operating your account, reviewing submissions and paying you.
- Consent. Recording and submitting a clip is a deliberate act you take task by task, and you can withdraw from a task at any point before submitting.
- Legitimate interests. Fraud prevention, security, product improvement, and building and licensing datasets from accepted recordings, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation. Tax, accounting and compliance with lawful requests.
7. Retention
- Rejected recordings are deleted, normally within 30 days of the review decision.
- Accepted recordings are retained for as long as we license the dataset they belong to, and for the period our customer agreements require.
- Account information is kept while your account is open, then deleted on request, subject to records we must keep for tax and accounting.
- Payment records are kept for the period required by law, typically seven years.
8. International transfers
We operate internationally, and our customers and service providers are located in several countries. Where we transfer personal data out of the UK or EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, receive a portable copy, and complain to your data protection regulator.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected], or use the account deletion page.
One limit on deletion. We can delete your account, your unaccepted recordings, and your accepted recordings from our own systems and from future datasets. We cannot recall copies of a dataset already delivered to a customer. This is why the licensing section above matters before you record, not after.
10. If you appear in a recording
If you believe you have been recorded by a capturGO contributor, email [email protected] with whatever detail you can give us — roughly where and when. We will search for matching submissions and delete any recording in which you are identifiable. You do not need a capturGO account to make this request.
11. Security
Recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to raw submissions is limited to staff and reviewers who need it, and is logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
capturGO is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or accept recordings from, people under 18, and we reject any submission in which a child is identifiable. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete the account and its data.
13. Changes
We will post any change on this page and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use your recordings, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect.
